StreetStyle

I have this thing, ok obsession, with street style. Like, I go on The Sartorialist and Street Peeper daily. multiple times. gah - but I just can't get over it - some people out there are just so stylish and...fashionable.
Not to be all like cliché or anything but seriously, they give me such inspiration for how to dress and to be individual. because in the end thats what its all about - its not about following the crowd but making your own footprint in the world.
I really enjoy seeing how different parts of the world have a unique and individual style. It puts a whole different perspective on living in Australia where, whilst there is a prominent style and fashion ethic, it lacks the pizzaz of Europe.
Take a look at some of my Polyvore sets featuring the best of street style.

Everybody's got somebody that they're looking for

I'm really embracing Washington's music. The band, lead Megan Washington, are an upcoming Australian act who have some really catchy tunes.
Speaking of up and coming, Bambi Northwood-Blyth is a new face in the Australian fashion industry but she's nonetheless making waves.
Sunday Best gives a very indie feel and inspires me to dress in shift dresses, brogues and art deco jewellery.

A Hermes scarf and what to do with it 101.

Ah - the humble Hermes scarf. A timeless statement of elegance. My life shall be fulfilled when I have one in my hot little hands. Until then I can only dream.
But for those of us who feel we have too many in our collection, here's some inspiration - give me those Vans any day!

Come On, Summer....

As the rest of the world is preparing to be frozen stiff by the chill of winter, down under we're gettin' ready for summer! I am terribly excited about the upcoming summer season because there are so many versatile ways to stay on trend - khaki, pastels, burnt orange, creams, prints, soft leathers.
There are so many themes going round too - desert, glamour, tribal, indie ...
It's really simple to embrace this summer season. I can't wait.
So here is a taste of whats to come for Summer 10/11 featuring Australia's prominent designers and some of my own Polyvore creations. Bring it on.

Ahoy!

Welcome, Bienvenue etc.
This is a very optimistic venture. It's the start of a new era, a fresh page has been turned to and I am ready to take on the cyber-galactic blogging world. Head on. Fierce. Ready.

A little about me - I am Duchess, a student, fashionista, shopaholic, whatever you may describe me. I have this thing, unexplainable really, about style and fashion - clothes, bags, shoes, accessories in general. You see, instead of studying or doing an assignment, one may find me glued to the pages of net-a-porter or polyvore. Yes I am that little bit obsessed with fashion. You may say, I have a "passion for fashion" however cringe-worthy it may sound. Yikes. I must confess I have put this on past CV's when applying for retail jobs however I have come to the realisation that retail is not for me - I do love the fashion, but I really hate being nice to customers - all day long.
So, here I am about to start on this venture - here's hoping this blog is successful, that it reaches out to all of you ever so interested in fashion, style, commentary or just random things.
Over the next few days, weeks, months, years - however long it takes for my blog to become successful - I will be writing down my thoughts, ideas, a-ha moments and blimps of creativity for you all. I hope you will enjoy the journey with me.
- The Duchess.
